On September 3, 2023, the first Africa Day took place at Osnabrück Zoo, a colourful event for the whole family that has been held annually since then. The program includes music, a fashion show, a gospel choir, a raffle, face painting, and African dances. Around €2,450 was raised the first time for the construction of a boarding school in Cameroon.
The event is supported by Mayor Katharina Pötter, the Lions Club Penthesilea, Sparkasse Osnabrück, and other local partners. Africa Day not only offered entertainment but also provided the opportunity to experience African culture firsthand while contributing to educational projects in Cameroon. Children, teenagers, and adults are able to engage with cultural diversity and actively participate in the event.
